On Life and Living

Snuck away for a week in Southern Utah with the family -

“Mommy me love living,” my youngest says. Sneaking up behind me and wrapping his arms around my leg.

“Me too noodle,” I pick up his newly minted five-year-old-body swinging him high onto my hip. A practiced maneuver I already miss.

“Live real long Mommy, okay?” He says more as a command than a question. He throws his arms around my neck placing his forehead into the pool of warmth between my head and shoulder.

“I’ll try,” I reassure, knowing I can’t make any promises. Knowing nothing about what tomorrow or the next day or the next will bring. Knowing that right now is very much everything I need.
